We do live in a lovely  area and at this time of the year it is even more attractive with all the bluebells, wild garlic [ransomes] and the last of the wood anemones, in flower. To enjoy these sights try one of these walks. There are three to choose from ( on the maps the green triangle indicates the start and the red triangle indicates the end, of the walk)

Short walks  – Choice of less than 1 mile or 2 miles

16 short bluebell OSMPark at Houses Hill. At the bottom of Houses Hill on the bend in the road is a track going up left. Access to the track is through a kissing gate. Follow the track through the woods and at this time of year the ground is covered with a profusion of bluebells and white wood anemones. Continue up the track to a T junction. Here you can just turn around and retrace your footsteps [approx. 1 mile]

At the path junction turn right and walk along the track until it bends left. Here turn right down a grassy track [sp] Continue down a much improved track to Rod’s Beck. Cross the beck and go over a stile. Go diagonally left up the hill past a tree to a stile. Continue alongside a wall onto the road at Botany Bay. Here turn right and walk along the road until it bends left. Here take the footpath [sp] right and follow the signs through the fields to the farmhouse below. Continue along the track to the road and turn right to go back to the start.

Longer walk – 5.5 miles starting at the parish church taking in two bluebell woods and bluebell strewn paths
16 bluebell OSM mapTo see carpets of wild garlic take a walk along the beck at the bottom of Kirkheaton. Just go on the path to the right between the two mini roundabouts. The banks at the side of the stream are covered.
