“This is the culmination of several years work and we are delighted to be doing this,” says Mr Steel. “It was around 30 years ago that we first gave the building into the care of a previous Community Association, and more recently it has been under Kirklees. We are very happy to continue to offer this asset for the benefit of the widest number of people in the community and to partner with others to ensure its future.”
“I am very excited, “ said Mrs Mellor. “It is a big step for us but we are very optimistic for the future. Already new groups have formed, we have managed to get more volunteers for the Library, Coffee shop and more. We are looking forward to working with the Library services.”
“I want to offer a huge thank you to all those who have helped us so far”, she continued. “With continued support from local businesses and residents we are looking to a really exciting time. Not only as a community are we saving a historic building but also reviving it so it can be more of a benefit for the whole community. There is a lot of work ahead, and many opportunities to work with us.
Both Mr Steel and Mrs Mellor expressed their appreciation for the support of both Ward and Parish Councillors, and said how much they were looking forward to continuing to work together.
