Despite the cool, dull and sometimes blustery day, plenty of people enjoyed a free family fun afternoon on Fields Rise at ‘The Picnic on the Green’ which was organised by Yetton Together along with input from some uniformed groups and Kirkheaton Youth Football Club, to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee on Saturday 4th June. They were entertained by a DJ and live music from the 15 piece Sundown Swing Band. Families brought their own picnics and children enjoyed the free face painting and were able to have a go at making a royal crown!
Royalist could even have their photograph taken with the Queen under the Jubilee Arch.
Winners of the children’s Jubilee Bunting Competition were also announced.
Fairy Felicity sprinkled her magic by distributing free bags of sweets to the children while parents were offered cakes, tarts and buns by YT cafe volunteers.

Inside the Community Centre all the entries for the competition were festooned around the hall alongside with Jubilee memorabilia for people to enjoy.

Thanks goes to Mark Flynn, photographer, for his kind donation of £500 – the profits from his 2021 calendar, which helped towards financing the occasion alongside Yetton Together’s contribution, and a KBPC grant. Also to all the volunteers who helped on the day erecting the events shelters and clearing the site at the end.
