Claire Richardson, Principal Engineer at Kirklees Council writes:

Dalton Bank Road, Dalton – Landslip Remedial Works
Following extensive ground investigation to ascertain the cause of the landslip, I am pleased to inform you that these works were completed last year, which has now enabled us to develop the most viable and cost-effective solution for implementation to remedy this problem.

The proposed remedial works, comprising the construction of a gravity burr wall to support the highway at the location of the landslip, will be carried out by Hinko Construction Ltd of Bradford. These works are expected to commence during week commencing 17 February 2025, and will take approximately 10 weeks to complete.

The works will be undertaken using the current road closures on Dalton Bank Road, and the current vehicle diversion will remain in place pending completion of the works. Pedestrian and cyclist access around the site on Dalton Bank Road will be maintained throughout the works.

Residents will be informed by the erection of suitable scheme information boards at each end of the current road closure.

Following completion of the works, all the current restrictions and barriers will be removed and the road will be reopened to normal traffic.
