The last few days have been spent delivering various recycling materials. Today we delivered a whole sackful of milk bottle tops for the recycling company. We were informed that the money raised in the last 3 months since our last contribution [July 25 – total £13,762] has boosted the total to £14,045 for Yorkshire Cancer Research – an increase of £1,273 generated by the humble milk bottle tops! So get those pintas down!
We have also taken 5 bags of clean aluminum foil weighing 20kg to the metal recyclers where we were given the princely sum of £4.50! But at least we had the satisfaction that it wont be in landfill!
We also took a bag of tablet blister packs for recyling.
Other things we are trying to avoid being in landfill are a variety of broken small[ish] electrical goods which can be mended at our Repair Cafe held on the 3rd Saturday of the month 1 -4 pm at Kirkheaton Community Centre -along with a lot of other items which with a bit of skill can also be given an extended life.
So bring them along. The next Repair Cafe is Saturday 18th October followed by 15th November. Go to yettontogether.org and click on the Repair Cafe logo on the Home page -[ if on a phone you may have to scroll down a bit!] to find out more.
