In September 2025 Yetton Together celebrated its  15 years as a community group and 10 years as a charity. Approximately 50 of the 80 + charity’s volunteers  invited  by the Trustees and Operational group  came together at the Community Centre to mark the occasion. Trish Mellor, the Chair of YT, welcomed the group and thanked them all for their volunteering which ranged from delivering the community magazine 3 times a year to baking and serving at the coffee shop, to improving the village environment with seasonal planters, wild flower areas and maintenance of the community orchard –  to name just a few of the jobs  undertaken. As she said volunteers are the back bone of the group and without all the work they do  be it occasionally, monthly or weekly, Yetton Together is nothing! Three special volunteers were give awards for all their volunteering roles over the years. They are Marilyn Eastwood, Lesley Ingleby and Jean Broscombe who each will receive  a 1-2 night, bed and breakfast basis break for 2 people courtesy  of Rooms for Reward*.

It was a lovely afternoon as volunteers could chat together about their roles and see they were all part of  of a wider group all helping to improve the village and its facilities in some way. A wonderful spread was provided along with a glass of prosecco to toast the occasion. At the end of proceedings everyone was given a goody bag containing a thank you card and  a water bottle decorated with YT’s logo.

It has been nice to get feedback from our volunteers after the event. One volunteer wrote “The benefits of volunteering work both ways. Keeping busy with all the activities at the community centre and the lovely friendships I’ve formed there have made such a difference to my life in the ten years since my partner died. “

Roll on the next 15 years and a big thank you to all our volunteers.  We highly value you  ALL!

The event was supported either financially or in kind by individual donors, grants from TSl & KBPC and BD Plastics, Mirfield who supplied the glasses free of charge.
