Kirkheaton Neighbourhood Plan: Community Forum

The Kirkheaton Neighbourhood Plan is now nearing completion but there are still some steps to take. Before Kirkburton Parish Council (as the qualifying body) can formally submit the neighbourhood development plan to Kirklees Council it must undertake a period of publicity. This is usually 6-8 weeks but with Covid 19 restrictions a decision may be made to extend this. This is a requirement of the process we are undertaking to ensure that the plan satisfies all the legalities when it is submitted for independent examination by Kirklees.

Before it is submitted to Kirkburton Parish Council for them to arrange the required ‘publicity’, we would welcome any views you may have on it.  This will ensure that the Plan reflects your views.

This Community Forum is your opportunity to have your say on the plan in its current form, and to express support for the Neighbourhood Plan and the policies it contains.

As you will remember, the Neighbourhood Plan is based on your views as expressed in the survey of residents and businesses. Throughout the preparation process we have attempted to give your views top priority. Our aim is to make Kirkheaton a great place to live, now and in the future.

Your support is even more important, given that two major applications for development at the Mill Site and Cockley Hill have been published-see the Kirklees web site for details.

Please feedback your support for the Neighbourhood Plan and provide your comments.
